Trip Fundraising

First of all THANK YOU for keeping us in your thoughts & prayers as we prepare to go to Madrid with a team from our church!  Rob & I are looking forward to serving together with a community (Spain) & passion we have (church planting).  We also pray this will be fruitful for our marriage and girls as well.

Why Now and Why Spain!?

In December 2010 we got married, May 2011 completed a newly married class at Austin Stone & then June 2011 participated in a missional community training.  We couldn't shake that God was going to do something WITH us and SOMEWHERE but we weren't sure how that would unfold and knew he could use us anywhere ... including Austin if that is where He wanted us!  

Quickly in July 2011 God put us in action!  As many of you know God plopped us in a beach town in Florida.  We moved there August 2011 not really knowing why but quickly befriended a group from a church that were in the process of starting a church at the beach.  We learned so much being involved with OCC becoming an autonomous church.  They became our family and that community became our mission field.  It was a joy and we were shocked and sad when we were called out of Jax Beach to Dallas in 2014.

We knew God wasn't done with our desire to be missional but again were not sure what that would look like in what would now be our home (Flower Mound, TX).  We chose Flower Mound specifically because we loved the teaching of TVC & it aligned with many things we loved about Austin Stone.  TVC also being part of the Acts 29 Network was a huge draw to us as well.  

Life gave us a lot of curve balls when we first moved, but a light in that dark time for us was going to Barcelona & Paris in October 2015.  Rob & I fell in love with the Spanish people & culture.  It really felt like a second home & God began stirring in our hearts a desire to do something there.  

In June 2016 ... 2 kids in ... we started our Home Group and began pouring into our community here.  In 2017 we learned that there was a team in Madrid, Spain from TVC.  In December 2018 I (Tori) was in the nursing room during a service when I started talking to a mom and found out quickly we had a lot in common.  Our husbands are fluent in Spanish, we are both from DFW & have 3 girls all about the same age.  To my surprise I found out that SHE was the wife of the family we had on our minds in Madrid!  

We made our friendship official (Facebook official) & I joined her Facebook group that tells all about their Spain life, needs, prayers and what God is doing! January 2019 I got an email from our church about needing a few more people for the Madrid short-term trip, reached out to my new friend about it and 24 hours later we were plopped in some seats at a meeting with the Madrid team.  Rob & I quickly felt peace that this was a trip we needed to be a part of & put together a lot of the stirring we have had for church planting/missions ... so here we are!

We look forward to seeing what more God has in store for our new friends and their church plant/community as well as our family as we continue to support them from here & hopefully more in the future!

When?

We will be flying with our team on Wednesday, June 19th & returning on Monday, July 1st!

What is our purpose?

• To lead an English camp for missionaries - the missionaries asked us to host this particular camp because it is a need within the community they are planting their new church in
  
• To assist a team of church planters in connecting with families in their community and establishing a reputation as trustworthy people 
  
• To encourage and be encouraged by a church plant that is just beginning in the Madrid area
  
• For Rob & I to gain clarity for what God will have us do long term with this church plant in the years to come.  Hoping for our girls to come with us in the future!

Needs

Prayer:

• for our childcare needs to be met - update: FILLED!!! Thank you for praying!
  
• our team as we plan the curriculum & week of camp! - update: FILLED! "Road Trip USA" is in full swing and we are loving what we will be doing! 
  
• our team to grow close so we can show Jesus to the community,  
  
• our trip to be fully funded, 
  
• Rob & I to gain clarity for what God has for us in this community long term, 
  
• for our girls to have an enjoyable and peaceful time while we are away!
  

Financial Contribution: 

• We are contributing $2,200 towards the trip & 
• We will be raising the other $2,100 through this site ** ALL donations are Tax deductible through pure charity/NEXT
• The total amount will be due end of May 
  

Funds will go toward: 

• From YOU: Supplies for the camp, rental car, fees for the camp location (the owner of the complex gave us a HUGE discount ... praise Jesus!) & some utilities we will pay to help the family we are staying with
• Rob & I: our flights, food (we are cooking most meals with our team!) & babysitting needs for our kiddos
