We are excited about all the incredible things God will do both in and through your group on the field and we’re grateful for you and your commitment to prepare them for this mission!

The vision of our team is to see trip participants begin the journey to live missional lives today, even before we get on the field. The experiences of working in a different culture, sharing the gospel story and learning and incorporating leadership principles into their lives will carry them further along in this journey. But, the journey starts now at home with pre-trip training! We are counting on you to fully engage in these pre-trip training sessions. General Norman Schwarzkopf was asked, “What is the greatest leadership lesson you have ever learned?” He answered,

“When in a position of leadership…lead!”

We need you to lead well as you prepare your team for this experience. When teams show up on the field that are well prepared, they are a tremendous blessing and benefit to our church-planting partners. Unfortunately, if participants haven’t been prepared well they can quickly become a distraction or even a burden to the ministry that is taking place at our mission sites.

Spend a few minutes reading the overview below and looking over the training plan for the country your team will be serving. Make a plan for when you will meet together with your team to complete these pre-trip training sessions. Trip participants will follow your lead on your enthusiasm and commitment to the training– especially related to how you engage in learning/teaching the GOSPEL Keys. The more each person practices sharing the gospel, the more confident they will feel the first day on the field, and the better we can serve the local pastors. If for some reason a participant can’t make it to one of the training meetings, please ensure that they watch the individual training video(s) for that session on their own.

PRE-TRIP TRAINING MUST BE COMPLETED BY EACH TRIP PARTICIPANT BEFORE GOING ON A NEXT MISSION TRIP

OVERVIEW

There are five mandatory sessions in this pre-trip training.

There are numerous ways to cover this material. Some groups do it over a weekend retreat, others meet every other week for a few months, or once a week for a month. How you structure your meetings is up to you. However, it is vital that trip participants take the time to learn and practice sharing the Gospel. For each session we have included:

    A SAMPLE SESSION OUTLINE

Each session will include a sample teaching outline for you to use with step-by-step instructions to guide you through the training for that session.

    3-6 SHORT TRAINING VIDEOS

Each session contains several videos on evangelism, culture, training on The GOSPEL Keys.

You should have received a Pre-Trip Training Leaders Guide along with some resources in the mail that will provide you with everything you need to equip your team for your mission trip. If you haven’t received this, or if you have any questions about this process or need additional materials, please contact us.

These training sessions have been customized based on the location where your team will be serving on their mission trip. Please click on your mission trip location below to access the track for your team’s training.
